Yammer enables users to communicate, collaborate, and share more easily and efficiently than ever before. It reduces the need for meetings, increases communication across silos, surfaces pockets of expertise and connects remote workers. There are some special applications avaiable to increase the functionality, but Yammer does not have a lot of other functions like Wiki, Blog or Content / Document Management.
Each employee create a profile and use internal tools for news feeds / microblogging, discussions and Ideas. Messages / feeds can be published on the wall or in private, and you can attach files, links and images to a message. It's possible to create different closed groups (teams) within the corporate network, and create different communities (teams) with people inside and outside the company (customers, vendors and partners).
Nets.eu has established a free of charge Company network on https://www.yammer.com/nets.eu, and this network is now used in the IT a Great Place to Work Forum (Group Unit IT).
Anybody with a ...@nets.eu mail address can join the network to see for themselves how the solution works. Efficient business use will require a payable product licence.

With the new SharePoint 2010 Yammer Feed Web Part you can see your Yammer feed directly inside SharePoint, eliminating the need to toggle between SharePoint and Yammer.
